Troubleshooting Android Beta Access

Modified on Tue, 19 Sep, 2017 at 10:28 AM

How to join the beta:

Step 1: Join the Google Group

We handle beta access through the use of Google Groups. This allows us to use one central place for communicating new game betas, automatically managing beta access permissions and gathering feedback. You can join the beta by heading to: #### and clicking "Join Group"

Step 2: Opt-in to the game beta

Each time we post a new game to test, we'll include an opt-in link (usually looks like https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.noodlecake.<gametitle>) which you need to click on and "Become a tester".

Note: You will need to do this for each game!

Step 3: Update or install the game from the Play Store

On your device, open up the Play Store app and search for the game. (Note: it may take a little while after "becoming a beta tester" before the game is actually searchable in the store for you.) In the post where we provide the opt-in link we'll also post the direct link to the store page.

While you are on the beta track you may notice that the game is labelled as "Beta" in the store page listing. This is so that you know you are using beta software that may be more prone to bugs and issues before public release.

Troubleshooting Issues

Play Store Page says "Sorry the requested URL was not found"

This can happen if you did not opt-in to the beta (which you must do for each and every game). See the announcement post for information on the opt-in link. You must click the "Become a Tester" button on that page.

This can also happen if you try to download the game immediately after opting in. In this case you just need to give the system a few hours to catch up and update the permissions. If the opt-in page says "You are already a tester" but the page still isn't loading just give it a bit of time.

I'm receiving too many emails from the Google Group

You can control the level of notifications you receive easily from the Google Groups website.

Head to the Google Group webpage (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/noodlecake-beta-testers) and look for the "My Settings" button in the upper right corner. Select "membership and email settings"

From there you can change your "Email delivery preference" to turn off email notifications completely, get a daily summary, a combined email or notifications for all messages.
